Laos was part of French Indochina, gained full independence in 1949 as the Kingdom of Laos. The first stamps were created in the years 1951-1958 marked Union Française du Royaume Lao. Then, as Royaume du Laos until 1975, when it was labeled as République Démocratique Populaire Lao. Currently are issued as Postes Lao.

Scans were made at dark background of stamp album to expose perforations of postage stamp. And therefore at a part of an image a foil may be visible.
